Configuring your Windows Firewall

Windows 11 comes with a lot of features for the security. From Windows Defender, Account Control List, as well as Windows Firewall. On this post, we will guide you five steps to configure Windows Firewall to secure your computer from the unknown intrusion. Here are the five steps that you need to do.  Choose Windows Security and Firewall & Network protection. Make sure all the level of security starting from domain, public, and private is ON  Next, you can configure what apps or port that can be allowed by the firewalls. you can click Allows app to communicate. Is Windows Security Enough?

The quick answer is YES! Windows Security provides you more than enough security features such as Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, App and Browser control, and Device Security. So, if You are just do casual browsing, playing game through game pass, or coding by using Unity, Windows security is sufficient. However, when you are a part time white hacker, like to browse new website, or installing unknown software you need additional software namely Microsoft Defender. This is confusing in Windows Defender there is Microsoft Defender antivirus, but Microsoft release a product namely Microsoft Defender (without Antivirus). This is the difference between Microsoft Defender Antivirus and Microsoft Defender.    Microsoft Defender Antivirus: Core Antivirus Engine: This is the core antivirus component that provides real-time protection against malware, viruses, and other threats. Part of Windows Security: It is integrated into Windows Security, which is the centralized dashboard for managing various security features on your Windows device. Free and Built-in: It comes pre-installed on Windows devices and is free to use. Microsoft Defender: Broader Security Suite: This term can refer to the broader suite of security tools and features offered by Microsoft, including Microsoft Defender Antivirus.  Cross-Platform: Microsoft Defender is available on multiple platforms, including Windows, Android, and iOS. Advanced Features: For Microsoft 365 subscribers, it includes additional features like a centralized management console, privacy protection, and more advanced threat protection capabilities If you choose Microsoft Defender, you will obtain: Pro-Active antivirus  Privacy protection Data breach indicator from darkweb Credit threats Family virus threat (not only you, but your family also protected) Device protection In order to have Microsoft Defender you should have Microsoft 365 personal, family, or Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
