Agile IT Strategy

Requirements of IT Strategy

Agile IT strategy converts us from the old metric to the new metric. In the past, IT works as a support from the organization. The organization has problems, the IT department provides the solution by converting from the hardcopy into the digital, manual into the automatic. Although this is sufficient, some scenarios will no longer work. Because IT is still becoming "additional" support for the company. IT doesn't have a strategic part. The major metric for IT department is:

  • System up-time,
  • On-time delivery services
  • Take request faster than before.

Nowadays, the IT division has become a strategic division that helps any division to work better. To create the Agile IT strategic, we need to:

  • Leadership priorities
  • Creating documentation in standard format such as OGTM (Objectives, Goals, Tactics, Measures)
  • Elevate the IT value by seeing.
    • Legacy system
    • What we need to upgrade the legacy system
  • Start and embrace simplicity.
    • Set standards for productivity system.
    • Reducing the vendor that best fit for the organization.
    • Employ the cloud for deployment and scaling infrastructure.
    • Simplify the key product scenarios.

Creating Agile IT Strategy

Agile in organization means flexibility, quick to action, quick to cancel, working iteratively, and more collaboration with others division. There five steps

  • Simplify the IT structure.
  • Define the strategy and priority for IT strategy.
  • Hire candidates in multidisciplinary.
  • Develop iterative project development process. Such as creating prototype, validate the prototype, and deliver the result
  • Develop culture that emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and collaboration.
