Implementing Corporate University with OpenEdx

On the previous post, we discuss about corporate university a concept that enable your organization to do professional development for your employees through structured e-learning. Today, we will try one of the MOOC platforms to implement corporate university namely OpenEdx. On this article, I will show you how to install and run the OpenEdx in Microsoft Azure. Let's get started!

Installation process

  • Visit the Azure portal
  • Find In the marketplace 'OpenEdx'
  • You will Bitnami Package OpenEdx

  • Create the Azure VM for that, choose at least 4 GB Ram for OpenEdx
  • Write down your username and password for the SSH.
  • Let's the installation of OpenEdx done.
  • After your VM is started, go to your Boot diagnostic

  • Download the log and find word 'password' you will find the random password and please note that this log is only available for 24 hours.

  • Now you are ready to go, you can visit the OpenEdx by visiting the Ip address

  • There are two web applications for OpenEdx the first one is the front end and the second one the backend or we call it as Studio. You can visit the http://SERVER-IP/edx-studio for the studio and http://SERVER-IP/ for front end
  • Visit the OpenEdx studio and create your own account with real email, since it will activate based on your email
  • Now you can see your OpenEdx is up and running
